Barton

The Barton family is traced back to Joseph Barton who was living in Kentucky about 1790.  Through the tireless efforts of Walter Barton, we traced this family, through marriage, to Hezekiah Thrower of Brunswick County, Virginia, who was a revolutionary War patriot and provided food, etc. to the Virginia militia during the Yorktown campaign.

This relationship was established by the marriage of Mary Alice Freeman to Eldorado Campbell Barton.  It is also through the Barton family that we found the Ahrens relationship and with it a link to the Republic of Texas.  Conrad Ahrens and his family arrived in Galveston, Republic of Texas, on 1 December 1845.
